Da Hong Pao – China’s Tea Business Card The legendary oolong, whose name means “Big Red Robe,” hails from the Wuyi Mountains in northern Fujian. Da Hong Pao has a rich aroma – roasted nuts, spices, and a delicate smoky note that unfolds with each infusion. The taste is soft and velvety, yet spicy, with a light sweet aftertaste. The first infusion is dark chestnut-brown with golden highlights, each subsequent infusion becomes lighter and adds fruity notes. Unlike many other oolongs, Da Hong Pao is exceptionally gentle. The first cup delivers a strong yet velvety flavor, the second brings a pleasant warmth to the body. As the Chinese say, one cup of Da Hong Pao holds ten shades. The tea’s special effect is slightly intoxicating – not in strength, but in softness and tranquility. Beginners are advised to pause after the first pot and savor the aftertaste, which might not be immediately noticeable during drinking. Da Hong Pao is truly rare: only a few teas in the world can offer a similar aroma and flavor. The dry leaves themselves invite the preparation of the brew. There’s no point in drinking this tea in a bad mood – oolong disperses worries and grants inner clarity. Preparation: 90–95°C water, about 1 minute.  (3–5 infusions).
