Da Hong Pao is a legendary oolong, whose name means “Big Red Robe.” Its home is the Wuyi Mountains in northern Fujian, where it has been a symbol of tea artistry for centuries. Even the dry leaves enchant with their aroma: roasted nuts, spices, and a delicate smoky note that unfolds with each infusion. The taste is soft and velvety, lightly spiced with a gentle sweet finish. The first infusion is dark chestnut brown with golden highlights, and each subsequent brew becomes lighter, revealing fruity nuances. Unlike many other oolongs, Da Hong Pao is exceptionally gentle and harmonious. The first brew delivers a strong yet silky taste experience, the second warms the body and creates a feeling of calm. As the Chinese say: one cup of Da Hong Pao contains ten shades. This tea is like a small ritual: after the first pot, pause for a moment and notice how the aftertaste evolves and deepens. Da Hong Pao is not meant to be rushed – it clears the mind and brings inner clarity. Preparation: Use water at 90–95 °C and steep for about 1 minute. Suitable for 3–5 infusions.
